During De Openingstrack, directed by Alida Dors, audiences in small groups will have first look at the TR Schouwburg in transformation.

Dors asked all the theater makers to re-relate to the space and the visitors. In a two-hour program throughout the building, you will be overwhelmed by all sorts of surprising performances by TR’s regular makers and partners. Dance, music, theater, everything passes by. Including Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot, URLAND, Davy Pieters, Tjon Rockon (GrandeLoge), Dalton Jansen, Timo Tembuyser & Hélène Vrijdag, Ann Van den Broek and the G-roots gospel choir.

The building also transforms. Both inside and outside, TR Schouwburg will be wrapped up and transformed into a large canvas on which Rotterdam street art artist Stephan Bontje will set to work and show what transformation means from a visual point of view.

Alida Dors: “Het mooie van deze vorm van programmeren is dat wij onszelf uitdagen om op een andere manier over ons werk en onze relatie met het publiek na te denken. Deze tijd wordt door ons allen op heel verschillende manieren ervaren en vraagt om meerstemmigheid. Theater Rotterdam, met onze collectie van vaste makers, is daarvoor de plek. Samen met het publiek gaan we op pad, en verkennen we de mogelijkheden van ons huis, en van het theater. We werken daarbij samen met andere makers en kunstenaars uit de stad.”

URLAND is completely interwoven into the opening track of Theater Rotterdam! Marijn takes the lead in the entire design of the building, Jimi joined forces with Boogaerdt and VanderSchoot as audio gurus and Thomas presents his character study of philosopher Alan Watts in a seminar on death! #backontrack
